Coalition Institute
New coalitions and new coalition leaders often find themselves trying to run a nonprofit organization in addition to implementing sound prevention science within their community. Not only do you have to have a broad understanding of prevention theory, but you also need to be able to run effective meetings that ensure smooth coalition operations, create strategic plans that drive organizational and community change, and set goals that move your coalition forward. Effective coalitions are vitally important to having effective prevention, which is why we’re announcing Coalition Institute.
Coalition Institute is a new initiative from Prevention Action Alliance. Coalition Institute provides coalition leaders with the knowledge and skills they need. Newly formed coalitions, new leaders of previously formed coalitions, and coalitions looking to enhance their skills are invited to read the Request for Information and Statement of Intention and to apply via SurveyMonkey. This is a cohort-based learning opportunity that highlights the fundamentals of community-based processes. Cohorts will meet six times every other month beginning in August 2019 and ending in June 2020. Meetings will be held on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at our office at 6171 Huntley Road, Suite G, Columbus, OH 43229.
Coalition Institute is made possible with funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. It is contingent upon funding.
