Workshop Description:

A Loss-Responsive Community is a place that ensures all people who experience grief can find the resources, compassion, and support they need to navigate the complicated world of life after loss. This 90-minute workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to create and contribute to a Loss-Responsive Community.
It will focus on:
  1. Understanding the impact of grief and loss on individuals and communities
  2. Exploring strategies for fostering need-response grief literacy, empathy, and support
  3. Providing practical steps for implementing these concepts in your local community

Speaker

Litsa Williams, MA, LCSW-C

Litsa Williams, MA, LCSW-C is the co-founder of the online grief community, Whatā€™s Your Grief (WYG). She is a grief therapist with 15 years of experience ā€“ specializing in sudden, traumatic, and unexpected grief. Drawing on personal and professional experience with grief, WYG was built as a resource to offer concrete, practical, creative, and relatable support. WYG was founded on the values of psychoeducation and creative coping and has grown to serve more than 5 million visitors each year. Williams received a masterā€™s degree in clinical social work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work as well as a masterā€™s degree in philosophy from the University of Warwick (UK). She has been interviewed as a grief expert for the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, NPR, and New York Times. Williams also co-authored the book, Whatā€™s Your Grief: Lists to Help You Through Any Loss.
