G.A.P. Academy – What Every Caring Adult Should Know About Trauma Informed Approaches & Adverse Childhood Experiences (Virtual)

The impact that trauma plays on a young person’s susceptibility to developing behavioral health disorders cannot be understated. Yet, these behavioral health disorders can be staved off when professionals and other caring individuals are trained to understand the impact of trauma and how to approach and converse with individuals who have experienced traumatic occurrences. Every caring adult should utilize trauma-informed approaches when interacting with individuals at every stage of life. Utilizing key principles and practices initially developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration and adapted by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, this 90-minute training will provide an introduction to trauma and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences. This learning will help attendees to shift their thinking around coping mechanisms, resiliency, and the four Rs of trauma informed approaches.

At the completion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  1. Acknowledge the impact that Adverse Childhood Experiences have on the developing brain
