
Implementation of DBT STEPS-E Curriculum: 2-Day Live Virtual Training
***Completion of the DBT STEPS-A Implementation Training is a prerequisite for the STEPS-E training.***
DBT Skills in Schools: Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving for Elementary (DBT STEPS-E) is currently in development with a scheduled release in 2024. The DBT STEPS-E curriculum is a universal social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum designed for elementary students in educational settings.
The DBT STEPS-E curriculum is being designed to help children develop coping strategies and decision-making abilities under emotional distress. The DBT STEPS-E curriculum is based on the skills of comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) that have shown to be effective with both adults and adolescents experiencing mild to severe levels of emotional and behavioral difficulties. This curriculum is adapted from DBT STEPS-A and is currently in development.
The training design of the DBT STEPS-E curriculum is to establish four basic elements necessary for implementing the curriculum effectively:
- Background and Development of the DBT STEPS-E curriculum
- Structure and Implementation Considerations
- Overview and demonstration of DBT STEPS-E lessons
- Preparation and participant practice of teaching DBT STEPS-E lessons
CEU Offerings for this Training:
- Prevention Domain 1: Planning and Evaluation- 1.5 Hours
- Prevention Domain 2: Prevention Education & Service Delivery- 8 Hours
- Prevention Domain 6: Professional Growth and Responsibility- 1.5 Hours
PAA will be offering 11 CEUs from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board as well as 11 CEUs from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist (CSWMFT) Board; additionally, DBT in Schools, LLC will provide a completion certificate with CE’s from the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
