Rise and Thrive – Campus Cultural Competency: Understanding and Supports for Student Wellness

Speakers will discuss the overall cultural competency needed to support marginalized students and the placement of specific measures to engage student usage of behavioral health services.

Prevention CEs will be applied for.

Content Objectives:

  • Participants will learn the importance of campus wide staff in supporting marginalized students through cultural competency
  • Participants will listen and/or engage in discussion on how stigmas play a role in marginalized students’ non-usage of mental health services
  • Participants will learn ways to engage BIPOC student usage of behavioral health services

The Ohio College Initiative will host a series of webinars through September of 2022, in collaboration with the Rise and Thrive Campus-Community Partnerships. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with state and national experts through a series of webinars that promote campuses and communities working together. Throughout the series, you will learn how to build connections between students, staff and community providers that result in improved access to supportive higher education environments and services.

The webinar will be at no cost to participants and continuing education (CE) hours will be offered.
