Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.
— James 5:14-15
The opiate crisis has claimed the lives of thousands of Ohioans, including our neighbors, family members, friends, and congregants. Thousands more are struggling with addiction in silence and in shadows. In the Bible, God calls upon faith leaders to change people’s lives, heal the sick, and comfort the weary, but many don’t know how to talk about addiction with their congregations.
That’s why we partnered with Cedarville University to create Know! Tips for Faith Leaders and Communities. The tips educate and empower congregants with the information they need to promote resiliency in their children and prevent substance misuse. And, they cover a wide range of topics from how to talk to kids about drugs to the importance of practicing kindness.
The tips are free and can be freely shared with your congregation. If you’d like to read, download, or print them, click on the individual tips below. If you, or someone you know, would like to sign up to receive our Know! Parent Tips, please click here and fill out the form.
