About the partnership:
Prevention Action Alliance is a member of the Prescription Drug Safety Network, a nationwide coalition committed to empowering students with skills to help make safe and healthy decisions about prescription drug use for themselves, their families, and their communities.
The flagship initiative of the Prescription Drug Safety Network is the launch of a new prescription drug abuse prevention course developed by EVERFI, the nation’s leading education technology innovator.
The Prescription Drug Safety Network has committed to providing this digital curriculum to high schools across the state, and will be made available at no cost to the schools.

About the Prescription Drug Safety Course:
The Prescription Drug Safety digital learning course uses an evidence-based, public health approach to empower high school students with the skills and knowledge they need to make safe and healthy decisions about prescription drugs. Through interactive scenarios and self-guided activities, students learn the facts about drugs, how to properly use and dispose of them, and how to step in when faced with a situation involving misuse. The course is aligned with the Centers for Disease Control’s National Health Education Standards and state academic standards.
Last year, the Prescription Drug Safety Course reached 30 schools, impacted 732 students, and provided 1,128 hours of learning. A little more than half (53 percent) of students reached have been prescribed a prescription drug and 13 percent of them have misused or abused a prescription drug. After taking the course, students increased their scores on assessments by an average of 51 percent.
