Introducing: Fresh Takes on Prevention
Prevention Action Alliance is excited to launch Fresh Takes on Prevention, a new monthly webinar series. It is a space to elevate new voices, highlight promising practices, and spark innovative ideas. Each session will explore diverse perspectives that strengthen prevention efforts across Ohio and beyond. The series was inspired by the strong engagement from our recent webinars.
Join us on August 19, 2026, as we kick off the series with a look at the power of upstream prevention.
About the Session
Substance use disorders are preventable. Prevention begins long before a crisis occurs. It starts with evidence-informed education and strong protective factors, equipping youth, families, and communities with the tools to make healthy decisions. Together, these efforts create an upstream approach to reduce the risk of substance use and support lifelong well-being.
Our featured speaker is Kayla Zawislak, LCSW, CADC, Director of Patient and Family Services at the Addiction Policy Forum. She will introduce free, evidence-informed prevention resources for youth, families, educators, healthcare professionals, and community organizations.
Participants will learn about Protect Your Brain and Protege tu Cerebro. These free, self-paced online courses are available in English and Spanish. They promote brain health, substance use prevention, healthy decision-making, emotional well-being, and family communication.
You’ll also learn how to use these no-cost resources in prevention programs, schools, healthcare settings, coalitions, and community outreach.
