Practical Principle 8: Youth as Resources

To encourage youth and support strong families and communities, try incorporating the Guiding Growth tips below into your daily routine

Practical Principle: Youth as Resources

Young people are given useful roles in the community.

Guiding Growths

  • Consider the “stay-at-home” expectations as an opportunity to give your child(ren) useful roles around the house. Create chore charts, task lists or even make typically boring tasks into games and reward them as they complete them.
  • Empower children by planning for the future. Have a discussion with a young person in your life about what you could do together once physical distancing is no longer a barrier to activities, then work with them to plan and organize it. (i.e. graduation party, family service project, etc.)
