Fostering Strategic Connections and Partnerships for a Sustainable Future is a dynamic set of pre-conference sessions designed to equip prevention professionals, coalition leaders, and community stakeholders with the tools and insights needed to build, strengthen, and sustain impactful partnerships. As the landscape of behavioral health promotion and prevention continues to evolve, the need for intentional collaboration across sectors has never been greater.
These sessions will explore the Partnership Continuum, from coordination and cooperation to deeper collaboration and strategic alignment, and provide practical strategies to help participants identify shared goals, leverage complementary resources, and create sustainable systems of support. Through training, interactive discussions, and the use of applied planning tools, participants will leave empowered to expand their networks, align their efforts, and foster long-term impact through meaningful partnerships.
Agenda
- 9 AM: Welcome
- 9:10 AM: Keynote – Breaking Down Barriers: Unlocking the Power of Partnership for Long-Term Impact (Exploring the Full Potential of Cross-Sector Collaboration)
- In today’s complex prevention landscape, true progress requires more than good intentions—it demands strategic, sustained partnerships. This keynote examines how coalitions and community organizations can transition from surface-level coordination to meaningful, aligned collaboration that drives lasting community change. Participants will examine the Partnership Continuum framework and explore real-world examples of partnerships that have overcome common barriers, such as turf issues, trust deficits, and siloed operations. Through practical insights, peer discussion, and planning prompts, attendees will leave equipped with the mindset and tools to unlock the full potential of partnership in their work.
- 10:35 AM: Session 1 -From Side-by-Side to Synergy: Strengthening Coordination and Cooperation (The Partnership Continuum: Coordinator & Cooperation)
- Before true collaboration can thrive, foundational coordination and cooperation must be intentionally built. This session focuses on the early stages of the Partnership Continuum and how to move from parallel efforts to synergistic action. Participants will explore case studies, practice using planning tools, and engage in facilitated discussion to identify the essential structures needed for effective cooperation—such as information sharing, role clarity, and shared timelines. The session will also address common pitfalls (like duplicated efforts or miscommunication) and offer practical solutions to streamline joint initiatives.
- 11:35 PM: Lunch Break
- 12:35 PM: Session 2 – Leveling Up: Moving from Collaboration to Strategic Partnership (The Partnership Continuum: Collaboration and Partnerships)
- As partnerships mature, their potential for impact increases—provided they are structured with intentionality. This session explores the deeper stages of the Partnership Continuum: collaboration and strategic partnership. Participants will assess their readiness for these advanced stages, examine real-world coalition success stories, and reflect on what’s required to share power, decision-making, and accountability across organizations. The session will also introduce tools to navigate conflict, align shared metrics, and maintain trust in long-term relationships.
- 1:45 PM-Session 3 – From Connection to Collective Action: Building Your Partnership Game Plan
- Making connections is the first step – but turning those into sustained action is where real change begins. This interactive closing session guides participants through creating their own partnership action plan, utilizing applied tools such as a partnership mapping worksheet and a self-assessment checklist. Through guided reflection and peer exchange, participants will evaluate the current state of their efforts on the Partnership Continuum, identify gaps or opportunities for deeper collaboration, and develop next steps that align with their community’s needs and organizational goals.
