Practical Principle: Personal Power

Young person feels they have control over “things that happen to me.”

Guiding Growths

  • Personal power is a very heady concept, so before you talk with your child(ren) about their personal power ensure you have a good grasp on your own and model behavior that demonstrates you know your own worth as a significant other, man or woman, or parent.
  • Help your child(ren) create a “word cloud” describing his/her/their interests. Discuss how our interests help us define who we are and what we’re good at and how that gives us a strong sense of self and of our power. Then print out that word cloud, frame it and gift it to your son or daughter.
