Statewide Prevention Coalition Association

The Statewide Prevention Coalition Association (SPCA) strengthens Ohio’s prevention coalitions, professionals, and community champions with resources, technical assistance, training, networking opportunities, tool kits, and advocacy support. SPCA is a network comprised of more than 60 community coalitions dedicated to preventing substance misuse and promoting mental health wellness. Together, we share solutions, support, and show solidarity with each other.
Statewide Prevention Coalition Association Logo

Prevention Action Alliance created the Statewide Prevention Coalition Association to provide a state infrastructure for substance misuse prevention coalitions and other groups. SPCA members retain their own identity while sharing their expertise and resources with other members in pursuit of common goals. SPCA members are often community coalitions, campus/college coalitions, local task forces, family engagement advocacy groups, and certified prevention agencies

SPCA helps coalitions:

  • Advocate for policies related to substance abuse prevention.
  • Build and enhance their local collaborative capacity.
  • And plan, implement, evaluate, and sustain prevention strategies within communities.

SPCA meetings are an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn with other coalition leaders across the state. Each meeting provides Continuing Education approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. CE domains will vary based on the session presented at that meeting.

Registration is required for virtual and in-person meetings. To register, your coalition must be a SPCA member. Registration links to all meetings will be provided in the SPCA newsletter. If you are unsure of your coalition’s membership status, please contact spca@preventionactionalliance.org.

The SPCA meeting schedule is changing in 2025!

Save the dates for our upcoming meetings:

    • February 18, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM | Virtual
      • Register Here
      • Topic: Best Practices for Virtual Hybrid
      • Description: Meetings Collaboration, which we used to take for granted in face-to-face situations, has become more challenging, especially when people choose to be off-camera. Further, questions remain about how to manage hybrid groups where some are together in a room and others are logged in virtually. In this session, we’ll focus on how to manage technology for greater impact.
    • May 20, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM | In-Person
      • Location and topic are to be determined.
