To encourage youth and support strong families and communities, try incorporating the Guiding Growth tips below into your daily routine

Practical Principle: Responsibility

Young person accepts and takes personal responsibility.

Guiding Growths

  • Help children, youth, and young adults learn responsibility by creating a family chore chart outlining weekly responsibilities of each family member. Make sure they are age and developmentally appropriate and answer any and all questions publicly about the chart, including “why do I have to do that?”
  • Challenge older children with the task of creating a “little sibs” moment asking them to take interest in their younger siblings academic or social growth during the pandemic. Ask them to take responsibility for helping with homework or planning an “outing” or even just socialization with their siblings.
