Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Boot Camp Description

Are you part of a coalition looking to apply for the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Grant? Are you a member of a DFC coalition looking to refresh your logic model, strategic plan, and other coalition documents? Join our comprehensive training series designed to equip your coalition with the tools, knowledge, and confidence needed to prepare a successful application. Whether you’re new to the DFC Grant process or just looking to update your coalition’s materials, our sessions are tailored to meet your needs.

Prevention Action Alliance has teamed up with CADCA to offer a Drug-Free Communities Grant coalition training series. This program equips coalition leaders with the essential knowledge and tools to build or sustain an effective substance use prevention coalition and secure the DFC Grant. Led by expert CADCA Trainers, the sessions cover everything from prevention fundamentals and data collection to strategic action planning and community engagement.

DFC Grant Coalition Training | Session 1: Prevention Fundamentals

The Prevention 101 session places special emphasis on understanding the role of coalitions in using evidence-based practices, programs, and policies to achieve community-level change and provides an in-depth understanding of the history and research of substance misuse prevention.

Stephanie Strutner
Executive Director, ASAP of Anderson

Stephanie Strutner has worked in the field of substance use prevention for nearly 15 years in both urban and rural settings and on a university campus. Currently the Executive Director of ASAP of Anderson, a coalition in Clinton, Tennessee, Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Emory & Henry College, a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy and Management from the University of Tennessee, a Certificate in Social Enterprise Effectiveness from the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, and is a Level II Certified Prevention Specialist. 

Stephanie’s academic and professional focus has centered on epidemiology, biostatistics, and health policy. She has spoken on a number of occasions before our U.S. Senators on Capitol Hill about the impact drug use has on our communities and has also testified in Nashville before the Tennessee General Assembly on multiple pertinent prevention issues. In 2018, she was summoned to the White House to join in a conversation with the President and Cabinet members in the West Wing about effective opioid prevention strategies at the local level.

Stephanie was honored with the Young Professionals of Knoxville Outstanding Young Professional Impact Award for her efforts in improving her community in 2015 and was awarded as CADCA’s Advocate of the Year in 2016. ASAP of Anderson was honored as CADCA’s National Coalition of the Year in 2015.

An avid snow skier, Stephanie also enjoys stand-up paddle boarding, golf, and spending time with her husband, Matt, their daughter, Blair, and dog, Oliver.
