PAX Tools with Ohio Women’s Network

Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services has partnered with Prevention Action Alliance, Ohio Women's Network, and PAXIS Institute to bring PAX Tools™ to women’s treatment and recovery communities throughout the state. PAX Tools™ is made up of trauma-informed evidence-based strategies to help guide decision-making, task completion, connecting with others, and celebrating a job well done. PAX Tools™ has been shown to decrease conflict, increase job satisfaction, and even reduce symptoms of depression. These trauma-informed evidence-based strategies help professionals and other supporters improve relationships and outcomes with those in recovery. Additionally, those in recovery will be able to use the PAX Tools™ strategies to help improve their lives and the lives of their families.

What steps do I need to take to participate?

Step 1: Complete the application form found here.

Step 2: Submit your application to Julianna Fellows at jfellows@preventionactionalliance.org.

Step 3: Once your application is accepted, you will enter into an agreement to receive training, materials, and ongoing technical support in PAX Tools.

Step 4: Two selected staff members will attend a PAX Tools Human Services training to learn to implement PAX Tools in treatment and recovery settings.

Step 5: After the designated staff members have completed the PAX Tools Human Services training, they will attend PAX Tools for Community Educator training to provide workshops to those in recovery as they transition.

Step 6: The designated staff members will attend ongoing learning communities and technical assistance opportunities to troubleshoot and recalibrate their PAX Tools skills.

What is PAX Tools for Human Services?

PAX Tools for Human Services provides trauma-informed, evidence-based behavioral strategies for human service professionals who work in behavioral health, treatment, and recovery. These practical strategies can be used immediately in a variety of settings to promote the development of self-regulation, reduce conflict, and improve relationships between those giving and receiving treatment as well as with young people. The approach of this initiative provides an opportunity to model and practice tested and proven strategies in a supportive environment. This 8-hour training is available in a live virtual format on a variety of dates and times.

What is PAX Tools for Community Educators?

PAX Tools for Community Educators provides training for human service professionals already trained in PAX Tools Human Services training to become certified to present PAX Tools Community Workshops for parents and caregivers in the treatment and recovery community. PAX Tools Community Workshops provide adults with trauma-informed, evidence-based strategies that can be used immediately in a variety of settings to promote the development of self-regulation, reduce conflict, and improve relationships between those giving and receiving treatment and their children. This 8-hour training is available in a live virtual format on a variety of dates and times.
