Marijuana Toolkit

The legalization/commercialization of marijuana and the expansion of the Ohio medical marijuana program are current legislative activities that have the potential to impact communities across the state of Ohio. Prevention Action Alliance and the Ohio Prevention Professionals Association issued a call to action in 2021 to Ohio prevention professionals and established a Marijuana Task Force. The objective of the task force was to create resources that could be used by local coalitions that would educate and empower citizens to advocate on behalf of their communities as well as to coordinate prevention advocacy efforts. The resources provided in the Marijuana Toolkit are meant to be adapted, customized, and built upon to best address the needs of the coalition using the resources. Note that some of the resources are making a direct ask of legislators and would be considered lobbying, while other resources in the toolkit are purely educational and informative and are advocacy strategies. We encourage our members to be cautious about broad distribution of these resources; we believe they should be utilized in the context of presentation and dialogue with consumers and communities. Should you need technical assistance or have further needs, please contact Prevention Action Alliance at contact@preventionactionalliance.org.

The Marijuana Task Force was composed of prevention professionals and concerned citizens from across the state. Our thanks to:
